- Acclaimed Flop: Despite being praised for its story and unique gameplay, Folklore was considered a commercial failure.
- He Also Did: The game’s producer was Kouji “Cozy” Okada of Shin Megami Tensei fame. Unfortunately, Folklore’s sales made it his final big-budget game.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: Folklore was never released digitally, nor remastered, forever stuck to the PS3’s physical library. Unfortunately, getting a copy of the game is a challenge- with it now going for high prices in second-hand markets. Folklore’s obscurity and commercial status does not help.
- What Could Have Been:
- Had the game done well enough in sales, a sequel for the PSP would have been made. We also would have gotten a PlayStation Move spin-off, too.
- It was originally intended to be a spin-off to Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner, but that game’s mixed reception nixed that idea- making Folklore into a standalone experience.
