- Executive Meddling: According to Mark Ritchie, the shorter "lightning" flippers were installed based on a request from their European distributors, who wanted shorter playtimes between games. Fish Tales was originally designed with regular-length flippers.

- What Could Have Been: The fish at the top of the backbox was originally going to be a Billy Bass
