  • Genius Bonus: The title of the work can refer to both the fine structure of a fragile universe, or the fine structure constant, a physical principle upon which basically all energy interactions in the universe rely. If the fine structure constant were tweaked one higher no energy would move and the universe would be static matter, if it were one lower then nothing would stay still and the universe would be a roiling mass of pure energy.
  • Shrug of God: At least one question in the comments on the Q&A is answered "Who cares?"
  • Word of God: Anything Sam says in the comment threads is this. He generally only clarifies points in his stories, rather than giving new information. The Q&A is the major repository of Word of God.
