- Keep Circulating the Tapes: Releases in both Japanese and English have been out of print since 1997 or so; Square-Enix seems to consider the show an Old Shame and hasn't reissued it, not even as a DVD or Blu-Ray release and Urban Vision, the US licensor, essentially ceased business in the late 2000s and formally closed shop in 2016. Illicit downloads or old VHS tapes are pretty much the main way you'll see it these days.
- Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Mid and the heroes of Final Fantasy V were first introduced to the US in the OVA.
- Sequel First: Final Fantasy V was released in the US after the anime.
- Sequel in Another Medium: The animated sequel to Final Fantasy V. The games and spinoffs have not confirmed if this is the official continuation of the story, and probably never will because Square was not directly involved in its creation. The only nod to Legend of the Crystals in a FF game has been the female Mognet Moogle in Dissidia Final Fantasy being named Linaly.
