Trivia / Final Destination 4

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: Krista Allen is billed third in the opening credits. Her character is the third to die about 30 minutes into the film.
  • California Doubling: The film takes place in the town of McKinley, which was canonically stated in the last film to be in Pennsylvania. However, the film was shot in New Orleans, and it's obvious in the scene set at the country club swimming pool, where they don't even try to hide the palm trees. The ending also prominently features an Orlando LYNX bus (reshoots having been done at Universal Studios Orlando).
  • Franchise Killer: While the film was a hit, it was eviscerated by both critics and fans of the series as a bad case of Sequelitis. The next movie underperformed at the box office despite its return to form quality-wise, something that many fans attribute to this one causing audiences to stay away.
  • Throw It In!:
    • Janet breaking the window while trying to escape the car wash was something that Haley Webb did by accident when she was pounding on it.
    • Nick Zano ad-libbed the "donkey punch" line in his sex scene. He was apparently told to make up various outrageous lines on different takes.
  • Tuckerization:
    • As is Final Destination tradition, the main characters are named after horror filmmakers. Nick O'Bannon (Dan O'Bannon), Janet Cunningham (Sean S. Cunningham), Lori Milligan (Andy Milligan), Hunt Wynorski (Jim Wynorski).
    • The Tagert Theatre is named after the director's daughter.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • A sex scene was filmed between Nick and Lori but cut from the film.
    • James Wong was supposed to return to direct but couldn't due to scheduling conflicts with Dragonball Evolution.
    • If the final result of the movie had been closer to the script, then the movie may have been more respected, even if the special effects still hadn't quite been figured out. Special mention goes to Jonathan's death, which makes far more sense, and is more "realistic" (in the realms of the franchise) in the script than it ever was in the movie.
    • Ashley Tisdale auditioned for the part of Nadia but lost it to Stephanie Honore. Tisdale also auditioned for a part in Final Destination 3.
