  • Box Office Bomb: Budget: $35 million. Box office: $16.8 million.
  • …But I Play One on TV: Rebecca Romijn had to clarify that she wasn't lesbian or bisexual for years after the film was released, all due to the scene where her character seduces another woman to steal her jewels.note  Ironically, it was Rie Rasmussen, who had played the woman seduced, who was actually bisexual.
  • Cast the Expert: Brian De Palma couldn't find the right girl to play Veronica. Rebecca Romijn convinced him that one of her friends, Danish model Rie Rasmussen, would be perfect for the job. He met her and signed Rasmussen because he loved the way she walked.
  • Creator Killer: The critical and box office disappointment of the film, along with Mission to Mars before it and The Black Dahlia after it, contributed to Brian De Palma never directing another mainstream film and being stuck to making independent films.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Rie Rasmussen, who portrayed Veronica, the woman seduced by Laure at the start of the film, is bisexual.
  • Star-Derailing Role: This film, along with the 2002 remake of Rollerball, ensured that Rebecca Romijn's career as a leading actress ended before it could start. After the end of the original trilogy of the X-Men Film Series in 2006, she wouldn't have a steady role until The Librarians.
