Trivia / Father Ted S 3 E 4 The Mainland

• What Could Have Been: There was a deleted subplot involving Ted being falsely accused of stealing a briefcase which gets pinched from a pub him and Dougal go to after dropping Jack off at the optician's (which also sets up the Running Gag about Dougal being hungry as they go to the pub to have lunch but leave before they can order any food). Near the end of the story as originally conceived, Ted only needed to use half of his winnings to pay the bail for Father Jack, Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Dineen ... and then had to use the other half to bail himself out when he was arrested for the theft.
