Trivia / Fast & Furious: Supercharged

Go To

  • Cameo Prop: The queue line features many of the prop cars that were actually used in the movies.
  • Creator Backlash: Thierry Coup, the senior vice president and chief creative officer of Universal Creative, has gone on record stating that he considers not stopping senior management from building Supercharged as the biggest mistake of his career.
  • Distanced from Current Events: When the attraction originally opened at Hollywood's tram tour, Agent Novak's dialogue towards Roman was more aggressive, but his dialogue was later softened to have him tell Roman to "don't move" rather than "get down on the ground", in response to the many police brutality controversies occurring around the country at the time. Unfortunately, the new lines change Roman's "I just ironed this shirt" comment from a witty retort to a non-sequitur.
  • Executive Meddling: It's been alleged that Comcast executives played a huge part in how the ride turned out in Orlando, as they wanted a Fast & Furious ride to be built quickly and as cheap as possible for some easy synergy.
  • Recycled Set: The ride retains the facade of the former Disaster!, but uses it as a gift shop rather than the entrance.
  • Role Reprise: Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Luke Evans all reprise their roles from the films for this ride. Additionally, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster also reprised their roles for Orlando's version.
  • Trend Killer: This ride served as one for Universal's interest in "screen and motion simulator" rides, which dominated their output in the 2010's. From 2019 onwards, it is noteworthy that Universal Creative's output has switched to preferring a much greater use of tangible props and dynamic ride vehicles, while using screens much more sparingly. Given the time it takes to develop rides it is unlikely that Supercharged is the only reason for the switch, but its poor reception probably cemented it.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Supercharged was the first ride confirmed for Universal Studio Beijing, but it was canceled due to the negative reception of the Florida version.
    • The Orlando version would have used 3D glasses, just like its Hollywood counterpart, but this was removed very late in development. You can still see remnants of it in the queue; parts of its design are consistent with the 3D glasses stations in other rides, there are signs that read "Safety Glasses Required In This Area", and in the earliest months of operation there was a sign by the exit stating where you could drop off said Safety Glasses.
