  • The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XIV's first segment "Reaper Madness" seems to get its entire plot of Death being incapacitated, resulting in a world where people can't die, followed by a montage of the results of that, and then the father of the house having to fill in for Death, either from the general Relieving the Reaper trope, or from this episode of Family Guy.
  • Conversely, the specific joke about a character pronouncing the word "wind" as in "gust of air" wrongly in context as "wind" as in "to twist", was used by Marge in "Reaper Madness" before being used seven years later by Carter in the Family Guy episode "Welcome Back, Carter".
• What Could Have Been: This was originally supposed to be the show's first Halloween episode, before scheduling went into chaos and the idea was in Seth's words, "thrown out the window".
