• Content Leak: Evidence of Bunion's existence was found in the game's files round half a year before it and a few other familiars were added to the game.
• Dummied Out: Several examples:
  • North, south, and west facing sprites exist for the telescope, which is normally only seen facing east.
  • Prior to the world update alongside the release of Buoy, the tileset contained what seems to be part of a swamp, with a mossy sunken log and a tall tree resembling a weeping willow. This has since been replaced with sprites used for some underground machinery.
• Urban Legend of Zelda: Near a dilapidated house on the east side of the overworld is a fallen log that stands out due to its coloration being more striking than the surrounding area. Many early players thought there was a way to interact with it. Eventually, players connected it to the unused (at the time) Familiar, Bunion, and jokingly speculated that pushing the log would reveal the Familiar.
• What Could Have Been: The second batch of Familiars was going to include one named Wyvern, but Loam had no ideas for how it would play, and it resembled Patch and Tent too much.
