• Creator Backlash:
  • When she appeared on Talk Is Jericho, she admitted that her matches were terrible and didn't have a favourite one.
  • She later said she regretted having joined Total Divas, feeling the exposure from that and subsequent requirements to be on the road at once prevented her from getting a chance at wrestling. She did attempt to get extra training after a while, but it amounted to very little improvement. In hindsight, she says she would have preferred to train at the Performance Centre first and not debut until she was ready.
• Dear Negative Reader: While she did admit her wrestling was terrible, she took exception to fans claiming she didn't care about the business at all.
  “They can continue to criticize my character and stuff like that because that’s all about it. You want to cheer for somebody and you want to boo for somebody. And that’s what makes the whole segment so exciting. But then when it was like, ‘ohhhh, she doesn’t care about wrestling,’ I’m like ‘f*ck off.’ Don’t be mad because I got an opportunity and I’m busting my ass out here.”
• Dye Hard: Well of course that red hair isn't natural.
• Dyeing for Your Art: She was asked to dye her hair blonde because there were too many brunette women and because she looked too much like the Bella Twins. She took a third option and dyed it red.
• I Am Not Spock: Exploited by her. Her full name is Natalie Marie Coyle (née Nelson), but she became famous using the Eva Marie stage name in wrestling. She combines the two in her outside ventures, going by Natalie Eva Marie.
• Promoted Fangirl: Was a fan of Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior growing up.
• Real Life Writes the Hairstyle: After leaving WWE, she dyed her famous red hair purple for fun and booked a TV show afterwards. They liked it and had her keep it for the show, and she decided to keep it once she was done with filming.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: She had to be taken off TV due to her implants rupturing. Shortly after that, the decision was made to get her extra training with Brian Kendrick.
• What Could Have Been:
  • She was invited to do a tryout camp at NXT and was then chosen to do Total Divas. Imagine what would have happened had she not been asked, or what kind of character she may have ended up with. She probably wouldn't have done the 'All Red Everything' either^note She was asked to change her hair because she resembled the Bella Twins too much. If she had trained at NXT this likely wouldn't have been an issue.
  • Right before she was chosen to do Total Divas, the ring name she pitched was 'Melania'. Because of the reality show format of Total Divas, they wanted to use a given name, but because that was Natalie, they also wanted to avoid confusion with Natalya - and so they went with Eva Marie, which is her middle name.
  • Before her 2016 departure, she pitched lots of ideas that would have her on TV in a non-wrestling capacity.
