Trivia / Escape from Sobibór

• Spared by the Cut: When the film plays on The History Channel, it often cuts out the second scene where Sergeant Wagner intimidates the prisoners with the bodies of three men who tried to escape in the first scene. While one of those men is seen being blown up by a mine in both cuts, the fates of the other two are left ambiguous in the History Channel cut.
• What Could Have Been: There were plans for a sequel, following the escapees of the camp trying to survive until the Allied victory in Europe, but it was canceled due to a negative reaction from the Ukrainian government, over their perceived negative portrayal in the form of collaborating guards. Just the stories of the fates of Bauer (arrested), Demjanjuk (arrested), Frenzel (arrested but released), Reichleitner (killed by partisans), and Wagner (alleged suicide) may have been worth a story on their own. Bauer and Wagner's fates were both possibly tied to random encounters with Sobibor escapees.
