Trivia / Escape from Monkey Island

• Development Gag: In-game, the SCUMM Bar is replaced by the Lua Bar after a hostile takeover, named after the language used in coding the game.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Until June 2018, this was the only Monkey Island game that still lacked a modern re-release on digital distribution platforms like Steam and GOG.com. As of June 2018, it is available on GOG, and was later released on Steam.
• The Other Darrin: Once played by the very British Alexandra Boyd, Elaine is now played by the very American Charity James.
• Urban Legend of Zelda: For a long time on the internet it has been rumored that when Guybrush has to go underwater on Lucre Island he can drown if he stays underwater for 10 minutes twice. This is actually not true. No matter how many times the player stays underwater, after 10 minutes Guybrush will only say "I'd better return to the surface," and leave the underwater area.^note (Though perhaps as a nod to this rumor, Return to Monkey Island has a Non-Standard Game Over if Guybrush stays underwater for too long three times)
