Trivia / Epistles of John

  • Shrug of God: It's debatable whether the Johannine Comma (the portion of 1st John 5:7-8 which goes "There are Three in Heaven that testify: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these Three are one; and there are three on earth...") was ever originally part of the epistle as it was penned by its author. It was most likely inserted into later manuscripts dating back to the 10th century C.E., and it was definitely inserted into the Textus Receptus after Erasmus first published it without the Johannine Comma and received backlash for its absence.
