- Actor Existence Limbo: In his final cartoon (Crow's Feat, 1962), Elmer was completely silent because Arthur Q. Bryan had died a few years earlier and his replacement, Hal Smith, sounded too different.
- Creator Backlash: Mel Blanc (who voiced Elmer in various projects throughout the 1970s and 1980s) admitted that he never did Elmer's voice to his satisfaction.
- The Other Darrin:
- After the death of Arthur Q. Bryan in 1959, Elmer was recast briefly to Hal Smith, and then to Mel Blanc, who was reluctant to take up the role since he didn't like to imitate other people, but no other actors were available.
- Since Blanc's death, other actors who have taken up the mantle as the dim-witted "wabbit" hunter over the years include Jeff Bergman, Tom Kenny, Joe Alaskey, Frank Welker, Greg Burson, Eric Bauza, and most notably, Billy West.
