• Humble Beginnings: Socially Awkward Poe started as a series of improvised vlogs based on a one-off joke about a hilariously bad idea for a spinoff of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. This show is a lavishly produced series with an All-Star Cast (by YouTube standards, anyway) including most of the cast of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, that's been screened at festivals and won awards.
• Meaningful Release Date: The finale aired on Halloween 2016, fitting with the spooky themes.
• The Other Marty: Melissa Hunter (of Adult Wednesday Addams fame) was originally cast to play Mary Shelley◊ but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with another project in New York. Whitney Avalon was cast in her place.
• Production Posse: The Shipwrecked crew hired many actors who were friends and collaborators on other projects:
  • Mary Kate had worked with Ashley Clements, Jessica Andres, and Laura Spencer on The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
  • Mary Kate had also worked with Joey Richter on School Of Thrones, who brought along his collaborators from Team Starkid, Lauren Lopez and Brian Rosenthal.
• Promoted Fanboy: Mary Kate Wiles on getting to work with Jim O'Heir, as a fan of Parks and Recreation.
• Real-Life Relative: The core relationships on this show, Poe's Odd Friendship with Lenore and his Hopeless Suitor pining for Annabel Lee, gain resonance from the fact that in Real Life Sean Persaud is Sinead Persaud's brother and Mary Kate Wiles' boyfriend.
• What Could Have Been: One wonders what the show would have looked like with Melissa Hunter as Mary Shelley, before Whitney Avalon stepped in.
