Trivia / Drag Race Italia

Go To

  • Channel Hop: Drag Race Italia's first two seasons were produced by Discovery Italia, and were aired on their streaming platform Discovery+ (followed at a later date on their free-to-air TV channel Real Time). From season 3 onwards, it's produced by Paramount Global Italy and premieres on Paramount+ and MTV Italia. This also meant a reshuffling of the judges' panel, as Tommaso Zorzi has an exclusive contract with Discovery and therefore had to be replaced with Paola Iezzi and Paolo Camilli.
  • Foiler Footage: As it is standard for the franchise, for the series finale all possible series winners have their announcement and coronation filmed, with the intended winner's footage only being edited in shortly before the episode airs, and therefore the winner finds out only upon airing.
  • Friendship on the Set: The top 4 of Season 2 all genuinely bonded as a group. It helps that three of them (La Diamond, Nehellenia and La Petite Noire) already belonged to the same drag family, but even the fourth one — Aura Eternal — is adopted by them during her time on the show.
  • Hostility on the Set: It's safe to say that nobody in the season 1 cast liked Enorma Jean, and in return she didn't like them either, proven by the massive Untucked argument of episode 3 that led to her disqualification. Her animosity extended to the production side of the show, which she accused of Manipulative Editing to her detriment. As of 2024, however, the hatchet seems to have been buried after Enorma and Priscilla met at Drag Con UK and shared a picture together.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Tommaso Zorzi, main judge and executive producer of seasons 1 and 2, is a big fan of the original RuPaul's Drag Race and was instrumental in the development of the Italian version.
  • What Could Have Been: A Drag Race Italia All Stars had been announced before the third season was broadcast, on the heels of Drag Race EspaƱa All Stars, though it seems to have slipped into Development Hell.
