• Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: In an online commentary, Russell T Davies made the claim that Ruby doing "a circuit" around the TARDIS as she comprehended its Bigger on the Inside dimensions was the first time a companion had done so since Rose in her debut. Fans have disputed that many others companions and guest-travelers since then had done arguably-similar loops around the TARDIS (including later RTD companions Donna and Martha) with Victorian Clara's walkaround the box most closely emulating such a moment with the cinematography.
• Executive Meddling: A positive example. The scene where the Doctor interacts with a policeman was the result of a suggestion by Disney who said they felt the Doctor needed more screen time early on in the episode. Seems like Disney had a point as, not only did it provide an opportunity for viewers to see Ncuti in action and get more comfortable with him early on, but also put his intelligence and intuition to the test. It also made them learning the "vocabulary of rope" not feel like an Ass Pull and more like Foreshadowing.
• Hey, It's That Place!: The building that the giant snowman falls from and almost crushes the Doctor is Howells department store, which had previously stood in for Rose Tyler's workplace Hendrik's.
• You Look Familiar: The unnamed woman in the club is played by Susan Twist, who played Mrs. Merridew two episodes earlier, leading to the fan theory that the two characters are somehow connected (which was confirmed by the script). Her actress ends up playing even more background characters throughout the rest of the season, Once per Episode.
