Trivia / Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Shoutmon, voiced by Chika Sakamoto with Taichi's Agumon, of whom he was something of an Expy to begin with.
    • Jou with Damemon; similar to Agumon's case, Masami Kikuchi's performance as Jou this time leans precariously into sounding like Damemon compared to his original portrayal.
    • Gomamon with Takuya as well.
  • Contest Winner Cameo: Ganemon, Ekakimon, and Bakomon were all winning entries in a contest.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Taiki, Shoutmon, Taichi, Taichi's Agumon, Daisuke, Takato, Guilmon... Basically, a lot of the guys.
  • Executive Meddling: For several years, rumors have been going around that this season was only produced as filler for Toei to secure a timeslot for Saint Seiya Omega, another heavily-derided season of a franchise that Toei has the anime rights to.
  • Franchise Killer:
    • Xros Wars/Fusion itself could have been this for Japan if not for it being a huge merchandising success, but this being the final series (at the time) really helped do the franchise in; many kids lost interest in the products and an equal amount of older fans were put off by the season's abysmal quality. With the announcement, and eventual release, of Digimon Adventure tri. as a series of films, this marked the third time in a row that a season of Digimon has resulted in a three-year gap.
    • Hunters may have killed off the Digimon franchise as being targeted towards kids, or at least one of the main reasons, due to the dwindling sales among them. Later entries, such as the tri. movies mentioned above, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and Digimon World -next 0rder-, are aimed exclusively/mainly at older audiences. However, they seemed to have tried appealing to kids again with Digimon Universe: App Monsters, and Digimon Adventure: (2020) only confirmed this.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": This series was the Italian debut of Masaru and his Agumon, as Digimon Data Squad wasn't dubbed in Italian.
  • No Export for You: Despite some of Hunters's footage being used in a trailer to promoted the English dub of Digimon Fusion, said English dub's final episode ends with a "The End" title and no dubbed episodes of Hunters have ever been released.
  • The Other Darrin: The Italian dub tried to get as many voice actors as possible reprising their roles for the big comeback at the end, but some had to be recast:
  • Role Reprise:
    • Of course, all the characters from past series are still voiced by their original voice actors.
    • In the Italian dub, not everyone had their original voice actor returning. The only ones returning were Cinzia Villari as Taichi, Alessio Cigliano as his Agumon, Marco Vivio as Jou, Paola Majano as Daisuke, Gaia Bolognesi as Takato, Perla Liberatori as Ruki, Patrizio Cigliano as Grani and Mirko Mazzanti as Chackmon.
