Trivia / Die wilden Kerle

Go To

Franchise

  • The Merch: Including stuff you "need" if you want to found an official "Wilde Kerle" team in Real Life.
  • Write What You Know: Author and director Joachim Masannek trained a boys' soccer team.
  • Write Who You Know: Two main characters are named Leon and Marlon, like the sons of the author.

Films

  • Completely Different Title: The first film was brought to Spain as "La Panda del Patio" ("The Schoolyard Bunch"). After the second received a more appropriate title, the franchise has danced between the two in its distribution on that country, sometimes combining both as a title and subtitle respectively.
  • The Other Darrin: Rufus, Jonathan and Sarah Beck didn't return for the second film, so Konrad Baumann replaced Jonathan as Juli (though only until the third film, which was the character's last appearance in the series) and the other two characters were Put on a Bus. Rufus later returned in the sixth and last movie.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Leon and Marlon are played by Jimi Blue and Wilson Gonzalez Ochsenknecht, who are siblings in real life. Their father Uwe plays Maxi's dad while their mom Natascha has a small role as Raban's mother in the first movie.
    • Leon Wessel-Masannek (Markus) and Marlon Wessel (Marlon) are actually brothers.
    • In the first movie Rufus Beck plays coach Willi, his son Jonathan Juli and his daughter Sarah is seen as one of Raban's cousins.
    • Kevin Ianotta's ( Joschka) younger brother Sandro plays a vampire in the 5th movie.
  • Self-Adaptation: The author of the books, being a filmmaker too, directed every film himself.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Constantin Gastmann was meant to return as Fabi in the second film, but his voice broke in midst of the shooting and he was deemed unfit for the role. When director Masannek failed to find a replacement in time, he wrote the character out and replaced him with Deniz, played by Deniz Sarsilmaz, who acted as a Suspiciously Similar Substitute. Gastmann returned at the third film as an antagonist, but he exited the franchise right after.
    • Filippo Dattola was also slated to return as Jojo in the second installment, but he failed to do so by unknown reasons and never returned to the series.
