  • Executive Meddling: Warner Bros. insisted that the film be shot in 3D. By the time the film came out, the 3D fad was already dead, and since the 3D projection was so difficult at the time to set up, Warner Brothers released the film in 2D for most of the showings.
  • Fake Brit: American Grace Kelly plays Englishwoman Margot Mary Wendice.
  • Role Reprise: Anthony Dawson and John Williams reprise their respective roles as Swann and Hubbard from the Broadway play.
  • Self-Adaptation: Frederick Knott wrote the screenplay based on his own play.
  • Wag the Director: During the attack scene according to the script, Grace Kelly was to get out of bed, put her robe on, and answer the phone when it rang. She contended that no woman, being at home and thinking she's alone, would put a robe on to answer the phone. Alfred Hitchcock agreed, and so the scene was shot with her in her nightgown.
