  • Black Sheep Hit: "Beth" was a soft ballad with piano and strings that none of the members of the band played instruments on and sounded completely different from the band's usual style. Despite this, it became the biggest hit song of their career, reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
  • Reality Subtext: "Detroit Rock City" was an Homage and tribute to one of KISS's fans who did indeed have a fatal crash going to one of their concerts.
  • What Could Have Been: Paul Stanley wrote and wanted to sing "God of Thunder". Bob Erzin however suggested that Gene Simmons sings it instead. The song was slowed down and had some lyrical changes from Paul's original version to fit with Gene's Demon persona. The version that Paul originally brought (with his vocals) can be found on KISS 40 Years: Decades of Decibels compilation.
