Trivia / Death Battle Equestria

• Approval of God: RLYoshi enjoys seeing other people write their own "Death Battle with ponies" stories.
• Creator Backlash: The author dislikes the earlier battles, and even deleted one.^note Hovermic VS Rylan Watch, both of which were original characters in his other stories.
• Meaningful Release Date:
  • Littlepip VS Blackjack has two. People were able to "pre-order" the battle and get it on December 25th of 2014 (aside from being Christmas, this is also the anniversary of Fallout: Equestria being finished), with the public release being on January 22nd of 2015 (the anniversary of Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons being started).
  • Nightmare Moon VS Slender Man was released on Halloween.
• Schedule Slip: The tournament went through over a year of this before being dropped entirely. Regular battles began picking up a moderate pace since then.
  • A minor, more comedic example; the author meant to make a blog post regarding Blackjack VS Littlepip exactly two weeks before the battle came out, but was a single day late. Throughout the post, he continued to take jabs at himself by constantly crossing out any instance of "two weeks" and putting in "one week and six days" afterwards.
• Trolling Creator: In a blog post, the author "leaked" a plan for the future via a link to an image. Said image is nothing more than a silhouette of an unidentifiable pony with a yellow background. The trolling was confirmed to be deliberate in the comments:
  I was trying to make it seem like I was giving a hint, only for it to just be probably the most obscure and least-hinting image I could possibly come up with.
  • The author then released another teaser for apparently similar reasons. Then he revealed that they were teasing Littlepip VS Blackjack.
• What Could Have Been:
  • After the Antagonist Free-For-All (Nightmare Moon VS Discord VS Queen Chrysalis and Changelings), the winner Nightmare Moon would've battled Steve?. However, the author canned the idea because he decided the comparison was stretching it way too much, and because it was almost impossible to compare their abilities. She did reappear in a later battle, though, against Slender Man.
  • Littlepip VS Blackjack would have originally been a four-way battle featuring Puppysmiles and Murky Number Seven alongside Littlepip and Blackjack. However, they were removed for different reasons; Puppysmiles because she would have an obvious disadvantage, being so young and lacking proper weaponry, and Murky because the author was too lazy to read the whole story to see if Murky got stronger than a weak slave. Also, it was originally going to either be a group battle between their teams, or have one-on-one matches between team members leading up to the battle between those two. This was canned for unknown reasons.
  • The author did attempt to write a battle between Celestia and Luna, a suggestion that is famous for being something he has stated he will not do. However, it seems to have been cancelled, likely due to a lack of (non-Nightmare Moon) information on Luna that could be used in the battle, something he had constantly cited as the main reason the battle couldn't be done before and after his attempt.
