Based on a Dream: Kazuichi being a trans man was actually based on a dream Silverpen had where there was a deleted scene of Goodbye Despair that had a “reverse Chihiro Fujisaki” situation in which it turned out Kazuichi was a crossdressing girl.
In-Joke: Sayaka’s artwork for “Welcome to Hope, section 1” has her saying “Luigi”. This is because when playing THH, Chrono and Dino had a joke where they gave her DIC Mario’s voice and had her call Makoto “Luigi”, because her surname rhymed with “paisano”.
Mizu Sakana was actually going to be a male teacher under the talent of Ultimate Zoologist, but the person who inspired this had turned out to be abusive and manipulative, so she was altered to be a girl and more in line with the pirate aspects of her TechToon counterpart WishyWashy.
The staff were actually going to be the TechToons themselves, but Dino suggested that using human counterparts would be less confusing.
Working Title: Chrono intially thought of the title to be "Hope's Peak Academy: Under New Management".

Kiyondo being reimagined as a werewolf came from Chrono reading a text as she and Dino played THH which narrated that Kiyondo "let out a bone-chilling howl" after the transformation. Chrono immediately saw an opportunity and took it.
