  • Science Marches On: Few of the creatures now resemble their real life counterpart after 171 years and counting, so it's easier to list the ones that haven't fallen victim to this trope. The dinosaurs in particular have become very famous for this, with many media on the subject using them to discuss the changing depictions of dinosaurs over the last two centuries.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The Cenozoic section of the park was going to be much more ambitious and feature more creatures then it already does (See this map sketch and and mockup by Mark Witton for reference). Among them were a mammoth, a bathing Deinotherium, glyptodonts, the extinct giraffe Sivatherium, bison, a moa, dodo, and a giant turtles and snake (the former of which was mentioned as being ''Megalochelys'', then called Colossochelys). However, a mix of budget concerns and disinterest meant Hawkins was turned down, with only the mammoth being partially made.
    • Hawkins was going to make a Transatlantic Equivalent to the park in New York City called the Paleozoic Park in New York City, featuring fossil life found on the contient, including mastodons, Hadrosaurus, and Dryptosaurus. However, Hawkins ran afoul of the infamous William M. "Boss" Tweed, who found no way to profit from it and offended his Christian beliefs, and had crooks vandalise the models.
