Trivia / Creed (Band)

Go To

  • Chart Displacement: For those who deem "Higher" their Signature Song, it must be surprising that while a top 10 hit, it's actually the lowest of Creed's four - and while this makes sense to be below "With Arms Wide Open", their sole #1 (and the band's biggest international hit), not so much with "My Sacrifice" and "One Last Breath".
  • Colbert Bump: "Higher" got a huge boost in popularity when it was revealed that the Texas Rangers baseball team had been listening to it before games during their winning streak, eventually culminating in them winning the World Series. This led to the band getting a renewed appreciation and launching a reunion.
  • Creator Breakdown: Scott Stapp had a long and tremulous one. At one point, the band was sued by concertgoers as Stapp was reportedly "so intoxicated/medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics to a single Creed song." note  This eventually led to the souring of his relationship with the rest of the band, and Creed's (temporary) breakup in 2004 and the backing band soon formed Alter Bridge with a different singer. Between this and their reunion, Scott attempted suicide at least once, and even post-reunion, he soured his relationship with the band again, went bankrupt, lived for several weeks in a hotel and progressively went more and more insane, eventually culminating in a vicious anti-Obama rant, then driving all around Florida in a drunken stupor giving away priceless possessions to strangers. As it turned out, he's bipolar and wasn't properly diagnosed until his meltdown.
  • Fandom Life Cycle: They were at Stage 3 or 4 at their peak. Nowadays, due to Stapp's shenanigans that caused the band to break up, as well as his use of Yarling being a source of contempt, they're at a firm Stage 6c.
  • Follow the Leader: Critics often accuse them of ripping off Pearl Jam, especially Eddie Vedder's style of singing.
