• What Could Have Been: Originally, Raisin from the John R Dilworth MTV short “Smart Talk with Raisin” was going to be Courage Jr.’s owner but because the short was obscure and Raisin already has a dog named Hamilton (Courage Sr. Was based on Hamilton) it didn’t work out and the creator used a kid version of his Ed, Edd, n Eddy” OC Edna but as a 7 year old instead of a 12 year old. However elements from the other MTV short he did “Angry Cabaret” were used anyway.
• Write What You Know: The author once swore off bread so a chapter was set in a haunted bakery and cartoonist Sally Kruishank actually gave him ideas.
• Write Who You Know:
  • The Killer Sisters from "Ed, Edd, Eddy, n Edna" appear here but as 9 year olds, they are still based on the three girls who tormented the author back in High School but the characters are largely exaggerated.
  • Courage Jr’s mother is named after and based on a late dog named “Miley”.
  • A Trio of mermaids in chapter 27 were named after the author’s friends Amanda, Natasha, and Hollie. It’s lampshaded that those aren’t punny names.
  • Dr. Bellaluna’s refusal to harm children is a trait from the author and because he feels that she should draw a line somewhere...
• Word of God:This story and the OC Dr. Bellaluna was the main reason why the author asked Danny Antonucci for the ages of the cast of Ed, Edd, n Eddy In case of a potential crossover and to make sure Bellaluna doesn’t harm anyone under the age of 13.
