Trivia / Convergence

  • Billing Displacement: One of the covers for Convergence #3 has Thomas Wayne in desperate combat with several Bat villains including a prominently displayed Una Nemo who looks about to stab him. She is so prominent that she and Wayne are the only characters who appear on the smaller banner ads for the issue on Comixology. In the issue itself she is part of the gang that attack Wayne (and is presumably killed when he blows himself up) but has no lines, no close up and the only way the reader can even tell it is her because of her unique look.
  • Executive Meddling: A positive example. Despite numerous editing inconsistencies throughout the titles, the staff for the Green Arrow tie-in were explicitly told to make sure Connor Hawke was given the correct skin coloring and racial background. Word of God from colorist Nei Ruffino states the editors were aware that making a mistake with Connor was a Berserk Button for the fandom after the numerous screw ups done in the past, so the editors made absolutely sure it was done correctly this time.
  • Exiled from Continuity: Sorry folks, don't expect characters from the Amalgam Universe to appear in the crossover anytime soon since the brand is also partially owned by DC's rival Marvel Comics.
  • Recycled Script: DC creative has been, in various ways, trying to undo Crisis on Infinite Earths for decades. The first major attempt was The Kingdom, which introduced the concept of Hypertime, the first attempt at the "All stories are canon somewhere" approach. Hypertime, however, was only a minor concept and not a company-wide event, which meant the few writers that understood it could use it while everyone else ignored its existence. When Hypertime failed to catch on, the next attempt came during 52, which established only 52 alternate universes rather than the "infinite" which had existed before. Convergence once again establishes a truly "infinite" multiverse where every story that's ever been published happened on some Earth, somewhere.
  • Word of God: Writer Jeff King confirmed that all the characters held hostage by Telos regained their lost lives.
