- Creator Backlash: Harmon actually regrets the second Precision F-Strike done by Britta, feeling it would have been better to bleep it. The first one by Dean Pelton was a Throw It In! that gave everyone a good laugh.
- Reality Subtext: The show was built heavily on Dan Harmon's experiences putting together a group of friends at a local community college, with Jeff as basically an Author Avatar. The episode starts with them completing their original goal as the "Save Greendale Committee" and can go their separate ways, characters talk about their mythical "season seven" and what that would entail but it becomes obvious that even if they keep in touch they will likely never be together as a group again. The final monologue functionally shatters the Fourth Wall, as it is done by Dan Harmon himself and gradually descends into talking about his regrets of mistreating people and hoping the people who love him are watching.
- Serendipity Writes the Plot: Elroy just ups and leaves early in the episode, and is missing from several of the Season 7 pitches, as Keith David was only available for one day of shooting.
- Throw It In!: Dean Pelton telling Abed that the shape of his brain is "fucked up" was improvised by Jim Rash.
