Trivia / Community S3 E04: Remedial Chaos Theory

• Development Gag: Abed and Troy's apartment is number 303, the production number of the episode. The episode was difficult to make, and as such, it ended up being the fourth episode aired. The first lines of the episode, dubbed in at the last minutes, are Britta and Annie confirming that the apartment number is 303, not 304.
• Out of Order: With the previously aired episode "Competitive Ecology", which was ordered by Harmon due to fears that this episode wouldn't be complete in time.
  • The first line of the episode and the apartment number was Leaning on the Fourth Wall / Lampshade Hanging about this episode being switched with the previous one.
• Word of God: The theory that “Competitive Ecology” was aired out of order on purpose because it was actually “from the timeline in which Abed gets the pizza in Remedial Chaos Theory isn't correct according to Dan Harmon.
• What Could Have Been: The screenplay shows that there were some ideas written that didn't make it into the actual episode.
  • During Abed's timeline, Jeff and Annie were supposed to get much snippier and pissed with each other, and their conflict was supposed to last longer. Annie and Shirley also had more focus on their fight. In the actual episode, both groups get lesser focus in lieu of seeing Pierce and Troy fighting each other over Pierce's bad gift.
  • The dice rolling visual for the final timeline was originally going to have stylistic images of all the other timelines shift and melt into each other.
  • There was supposed to be a title revealing the Darkest Timeline just before The Tag starts.
