- Backed by the Pentagon: Director Elem Klimov even got to borrow the military hardware of the Reds with Rockets.
- Completely Different Title: In French, the movie was initially released under the title Viens et Vois, which is a faithful translation of the original one. During the 2000s, it has been retitled Requiem pour un Massacre ("Requiem for a Slaughter").
- Dyeing for Your Art: Aleksei Kravchenko had to go through a starvation diet for the last parts of the film in order to give his character, Flyora, the ragged, shell-shocked look that was needed for it. He also dyed his hair grey, which did not come out after shooting completed, forcing him to remain thin and grey-haired for months after shooting had ended.
- Enforced Method Acting: Klimov fired live gunshots over the actors' heads to make their terror look genuine in the battle scenes.
- Fake Nationality:
- Kosach and Rubezh are both played by Lithuanian actors.
- The Sturmbannfuhrer and Obersturmfuhrer are played by a Latvian and Estonian, respectively.
- And of course, the main character Flyora, a Belorussian, is portrayed by a Russian actor - though at the time Belarus and Russia were part of the same country.
- What Could Have Been: The film was very nearly called Kill Hitler, a rather goofily blunt title that is only relevant to the very final scene and lacks the apocalyptic undertones of Come and See.
