Trivia / Collin Raye

Go To

  • Breakup Breakout: From The Wrays.
  • Chart Displacement: Many of his big hits didn't get to #1, incluing "That's My Story" (#6), "Little Rock" (#2), "I Think About You" (#2), and "Little Red Rodeo" (#3), all of which are leagues more famous than the now-obscure #1 "In This Life".
  • Colbert Bump: "What If Jesus Comes Back Like That" was issued as a single after it got heavy airplay on After Midnite with Blair Garner.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: His birth name is often cited as Floyd Collin Wray. However, Broadcast Music Incorporated and his own website have both confirmed that his actual middle name is Elliot.
  • Missing Episode: A 2004 single titled "World History 101" was only ever released independently and never put on an album.
  • Technology Marches On: Minor example in "That's My Story", which contains the lyric "get a cellular phone and you won't have to worry". Nowadays it would be extremely likely that both the husband and wife in the song would have their own cell phones.
    • A similar case in “Little Rock”. A line mentions that the singer is “selling V.C.R.’s in Arkansas at a Walmart.” These days, it would be streaming devices or Blu ray players.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Broadcast Music Incorporated database entries, he recorded both "Wild Man" and "In a Different Light", which instead wound up being hits for Ricky Van Shelton and Doug Stone respectively.
