- Dueling Games: Cold Fear had the bad luck of coming out 2 months after Resident Evil 4, with both attempting to evolve the Survival Horror genre in a similar manner, such as with more action-oriented gameplay, faster parasite-controlled enemies rather than slower traditional zombies, and an Always Over the Shoulder camera angle for aiming. Cold Fear stood no chance against the massively popular Resident Evil franchise, and ended up often accused of ripping off RE4 despite the two games' close development times making that highly unlikely.
- What Could Have Been:
- Several discarded projects can be seen, including a blonde, midriff-baring version of Anna, a different Tom, and various models of zombies, Exocels and mutants, including a wide array of sea-themed mutants - up to and including seagulls. Additionally, it was, development-wise, initially, an Xbox exclusive Time Crisis game that got cancelled.
- There was even a point in time where, after the Time Crisis idea was scrapped, it was briefly proposed to be the fifth game in the Alone in the Dark franchise (as the game was developed by the same company that did Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, the fourth game in that series), but this was scrapped early on and instead it became a standalone IP.
