Trivia / Christmas Who?

Go To

  • Cultural Translation: In the German version, Sandy tells SpongeBob about Knecht Ruprecht (Farmhand Rupert), the companion of Saint Nicholas in German folklore.
  • DVD Commentary: Stephen Hillenburg and Tom Kenny made one for the DVD release.
  • First Appearance: Of Patchy the Pirate and Potty the Parrot.
  • Harpo Does Something Funny: A variation. In the storyboard animatic, Sandy explaining Christmas to SpongeBob is just her casually explaining it, whereas in the final version, there are shots of her blowing raspberries, jumping on the table, growing muscles, stretching her mouth, running back and forth, and wiggling her arms. According to the DVD Commentary, this is because the episode animators thought what was provided for the scene in the storyboard was boring, and they wanted to make it funny.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Dee Bradley Baker sings Mr. Krabs' high notes at the end of "The Very First Christmas to Me" because Clancy Brown couldn't pull off a falsetto voice.
  • On-Set Injury: The unbaked cookie dough that Patchy eats is actually mashed potatoes, and according to the DVD Commentary, Tom Kenny's body is unable to properly digest mashed potatoes, so having to do a couple takes of eating it resulted in him having his stomach pumped.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Squidward (as Santa) originally gave the first girl a plant resembling himself instead of a wrench.
    • While waiting in line for Santa (as Squidward), Mr. Krabs had a deleted line in this episode — "And don't forget about me pony!"
  • Word of God: According to the DVD Commentary, Stephen Hillenburg was hopeful that Patchy's line of, "You, I'm ignoring," would be a case of The Catchphrase Catches On, although it ended up not being the case.
