Trivia / Chop Socky Chooks

Go To

  • International Coproduction: Between the British Aardman Animations and the Canadian Decode Entertainment in association with both Cartoon Network and Teletoon. Incidentally, the two studios had previously collaborated on another series made for Teletoon, Planet Sketch (although CN had no involvement in this one).
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only the first half of the series has ever been released in DVD. The series is somewhat difficult to find after that, though you may get lucky and get the DVD set online cheep. All of the episodes can also be found here.
  • No Export for You: You can't view too many clips on the Cartoon Network website, as those are only available if you live in Britain.
  • The Other Darrin: In the U.K., Chuckie Chan was voiced by Rob Rackshaw doing an exaggerated Chinese accent reminiscent of Jackie Chan, granted he is the expy of said actor and martial artist. It was feared that American audiences would be more likely to view it as a racist caricature so Chuckie was redubbed by Chris Hardwick in the U.S. airings. Halfway through the show's run, Hardwick would become Chuckie's voice in both countries after the network received complaints.
  • Screwed by the Network: Daniel Capozzi, the show's lead artist, has revealed that the show received high ratings during its run and was poised to become Cartoon Network's next big action show. However, the premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars caused Cartoon Network executives to shift most their focus on to it, resulting in Chop Socky Chooks being given erratic airdates and limited reruns until it was removed from the schedule completely.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Daniel Capozzi, the show was initially conceived as being a 2-D show with animation and designs reminiscent of graphic nightclub posters. The Chooks were also going to have beaks before it was decided that it would make them look less unique.
