• California Doubling: The film takes place in Nebraska but was filmed in Iowa. However it was filmed just a few miles from the Nebraska state line and the environment is identical so this is a very minor example of the trope.

• Dawson Casting: John Franklin was actually 25 years old when he played Isaac. His youthful appearance is a result of a growth hormone deficiency.
• Disowned Adaptation: Had King known how the story would be adapted, he said, he would have sued to get his name not used above the title in the film's marketing. The numerous sequels didn't help matters, either.
