• Have a Gay Old Time: The paradise in title does not relate to a religious one. In the 19th century, a paradise was a section of an audience in the theaters without any seats or amenities, reserved for the poor who wanted to watch a spectacle but could afford only a very cheap ticket. (You actually can see a paradise depicted on the poster on main page.) In the 20th century, the word all but disappeared from use along with such sections in theaters, and is now largely forgotten.
