  • S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin; the "S" stands for Sharon.

• Real-Life Relative: Colin Donnell, who plays Connor Rhodes, is married to Patti Murin, who plays Nina Shore.
• What Could Have Been: Like Chicago P.D., Med had some growing pains with its cast in the runup to its first proper episode. Laurie Holden was originally cast as a series regular but decided to drop out after the pilot because shooting in Chicago meant either uprooting her family or spending months away from them and she didn't want to take either option. Also, the original cast was much smaller and was expanded significantly before the show debuted.
• You Look Familiar:
  • S. Epatha Merkerson previously spent 16 years playing Anita Van Buren on Law & Order, which exists in the same universe as the Chicago shows.
  • Before being cast as Dr. Choi, Brian Tee played one-shot Yakuza mook Kong in Chicago P.D..
