Trivia / Charlotte Flair

Go To

  • Ascended Fan Nickname: Charlotte Flair was originally just a Fan Nickname, given that Charlotte referenced the Flair name in many of her promos and even had a t-shirt calling herself a Flair. WWE eventually made Flair her canon last name, as they had done with Snuka for Tamina.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • She rather bluntly said she doesn't think she's suited to being a Face and questioned WWE's decision to book her as such during the call-up.
    • Charlotte hinted in her book Second Nature (co-written with her father) that she disapproved of the decision to have her win the title back off Sasha Banks at the 2016 SummerSlam.
    • She actually hated having Ric Flair as her manager, because he would regularly forget the planned spots and play to the crowd with his own taunts - as opposed to drawing the attention to the woman he was managing instead. She much preferred wrestling on her own afterwards.
  • Dear Negative Reader: She took the time to blast Dave Meltzer when he insinuated that she was having dental work done because she was "insecure about her looks".
“You have my phone number. It would take you 30 seconds to ask as opposed to giving straight crap to your listeners. Grow up. For you, of all people, to comment on a woman’s looks...Do you have any shame, decency or professionalism left at all? Find a mirror. Look hard Dave.”
  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • Charlotte turned heel in late 2013, joined the Beautiful Fierce Females and was Put on a Bus because she was getting breast implants.
    • Even though she was probably going to be captaining the SmackDown women's team at Survivor Series 2018 anyway, Becky Lynch suffering a legit concussion during the Raw invasion segment the week before the PPV forced WWE to pull Becky from her champion vs. champion match with Ronda Rousey and call on Charlotte to represent SmackDown instead.
    • In late summer 2017, Ric had serious complications from surgery and ended up hospitalized for a month, so Charlotte went on leave to be with him and the rest of the Flair family. When he thankfully recovered and Charlotte went back to SmackDown, this immediately became part of her storyline, as she cut a promo about the situation and how much Ric means to her before chasing Natalya and the SmackDown Women's Championship in his honor.
    • Charlotte was supposed to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 37, but had to be pulled from the event for medical reasons. It was initially reported that she was pregnant, but it turned out she had tested positive for COVID-19. She returned to action shortly after the event.
  • Romance on the Set:
    • Dirtsheet sites reported that she's dating Andrade "Cien" Almas. They confirmed themselves as a couple soon after. In early 2020 the couple got engaged, and they finally tied the knot in May 2022.
    • Shortly after Alberto Del Rio and Paige went public with their relationship, it was reported that Del Rio had a brief relationship with Charlotte beforehand, note  albeit the two never came out as a couple and neither spoke about it officially.
  • Throw It In!: Charlotte's 'Pay-Per-View Streak' - where she had not lost on PPV between Battleground 2015 and Fast Lane 2017 - was not originally planned, and only became incorporated into storylines once they realised. Charlotte herself wasn't even aware of it until an interviewer brought it up some time in 2016.
  • What Could Have Been: A program between Charlotte and Paige was planned on NXT, and they even filmed a tag match that ended with Charlotte pinning Paige. During that time however, the decision was made to call Paige up and put the Divas' Championship on her. They then had to hurriedly film a segment that stripped Paige of the NXT Women's title, and edit out her entrance in the taped match (showing her with the title).
