- Mutually Fictional: By completing every sidequest, the player will encounter a Previous Player-Character Cameo in the form of Momo, the black cat from the Halloween doodles... and both characters will immediately remark that they've played the other one's game, leading to confusion before they both decide not to dwell on it.
- What Could Have Been: Creative lead Nate Swinehart revealed ideas considered for the doodle on Twitter.
- One of the concepts suggested for the doodle was a 3D game focused on Mecha Sports with the player duking out against robots inspired by Japanese folklore.
- Lucky was originally conceived as a fox. Studio 4°C felt that foxes' status as Tricksters in Japanese folklore made that species a poor fit for the game's heroine and drew Lucky as a calico ninja cat instead. The Google Doodle team fell in love with the studio's proposed redesign and ran with it.
- There was an attempt to have the sports minigames played on the overworld but it was too hard for the developers to implement.
- The teams were going to be based on actual countries but it was decided to be more fun for there to be four original teams instead.
