Trivia / Caillou And Dora The Teenage Years

Go To

  • Bowdlerise:
    • Episode 4 had more profanity and stronger sexual references, but it was toned down before the release. There was also a scene where a father and son comment on Caillou and Dora having sex in the bathroom, but it was removed.
    • The released version of “Found” removes an off-hand comment about Dora fingering Clementine, but it is in the extended version.
    • The released version of “Caught” removes a stage re-enactment of 2 Girls, 1 Cup, and tones down Caillou and Dora’s sex talk.
    • The released version of Gwen’s Fun Life removes a scene where Gwen walks in on her Auntie watching porn, but she tries to pass it off as a soap opera.
    • In Kai-Lan’s 18th Birthday, the scene where Caillou confronts Gwen is toned down to be less vulgar.
    • The Great Escape removes a scene where Little Bill calls Boots’ Girlfriend, Paula, a cunt.
  • Creator Breakdown: The creator has taken extended hiatuses from the series at times due to unknown personal issues.
  • Distanced from Current Events: The release of "The Main Suspect" was delayed by weeks due to a story arc involving a school shooting, right after Parkland. Some of the darker jokes were cut out when the episode was released.
  • Troubled Production:
    • The episode "Kai-Lan's 18th Birthday" was delayed due to off sync uploading. The episode was eventually remade to avoid this and published.
    • Life Is Sweet went through several plot changes before its' release: Initially, it invloved the citizens of Titusville suffering from a drug craze, then it was switched to an STD outbreak, then Clementine coping with Leo's death and attending therapy, and finally, to Caillou and Dora infecting the town and taking initiative to fix it.
  • What Could Have Been
    • Mary Streeter and Doris were supposed to be together in Season 3, but the plot was scrapped.
    • When Clementine originally announced she was pregnant, Leo originally committed suicide instead of running away.
    • Boots was actually supposed to rape Dora, instead of merely being accused of raping Dora, but this was deemed too dark.
    • Gwen was supposed to be killed off, but the creator cancelled this after his sister told him she relates to the character.
    • The series finale, which is already somewhat dark, was planned to be darker. Caillou, Dora, and Cody were supposed be horribly mistreated by their parents. Caillou was supposed to be beaten by Boris in a cocaine-fueled rage while Dora was molested in bed by her father, causing them to grab Cody and sleep at a homeless shelter. Gwen went on a killing spree, Diego & Muffy turned to prostitution and get arrested by an undercover officer, Binky was cursed by his father and sent to a gay conversion camp, and both Rosie & Zunga died. Finally, Clementine is convinced to commit suicide to meet Leo in Heaven. Her and Sarah make a suicide pact, but Sarah backs out, while Clementine sticks with it. This was all deemed too dark and morbid, especially since a more light-hearted sequel series has been planned, so the finale was hastily re-written to be more bittersweet.
