Trivia / C. S. Lewis

Go To

  • Magnum Opus Dissonance: The Screwtape Letters and The Chronicles of Narnia series sold phenomenally, by his standards, but his own favorite was Till We Have Faces. Then, his big problem with Screwtape was that it, alone among his works, was actively unpleasant to write. Another one of Lewis' favorite books that he wrote is Perelandra, which he once said was worth ten 'Screwtapes'.
  • We Named the Monkey "Jack": Lewis hated his given name and at age four took the name "Jacksie" after a neighborhood dog that had been killed by a car. This was eventually shortened to "Jack" and became the name that he used among friends and family for the rest of his life.
