  • Development Hell: The Ninth Doctor stories Kronos Squared and its follow-up The Price of Peace are unlikely to ever be made. note
  • Recycled Script: Twice over in the case of The Wooden Planet. The original idea came from an ultimately unmade version of Alien³, then was adapted further from a "review" of a fake DWAD story. The Krynoids work surprisingly well in place of the Xenomorphs!
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Pilots:
      • Kronos Squared would have seen the Doctor and Whitney dealing with the twin planets of Kronos I and Kronos II. The inhabitants of KI are enslaving the australopithecine-like natives of KII. It's then revealed that the twins are actually one planet at different points in time co-existing. The Kronosians are enslaving their own ancestors.
      • The Price of Peace would have featured the supposed paradise world of Benelux... which is now a nuclear wasteland. Separated from his companions and the TARDIS by intelligent machines led by a crazed computer, the Doctor must find out what happened to Benelux.
    • Season One:
      • Starcrossed was the intended second story of Season One, taking place on the Recreation Station 4 mentioned at the end of Las Pinturas Negras. It would have featured Whitney and Zacharias kidnapped to be on a deadly future version of The Dating Game. The results are rigged against Zacharias and the other bachelor, an enormous worrywart of an Ice Warrior, in favor of the third bachelor: a gelatinous Plenduthan named Krt'nl'krryx, who intends to dissolve Whitney and the other bachelors to feed.
      • The Land of Luxury was to follow Starcrossed, and had the TARDIS crew split up. Whitney and Zacharias went to Cockaigne, where every imaginable pleasure is at their fingertips - from rooms made of candy to perfect musical concerts to ultimate saunas. The Doctor, meanwhile, investigates the bit of the Rosenkreuz Manuscript he collected in Las Pinturas Negras at his house on Allen Road. Whitney and Zacharias discover that Cockaigne has become a lame commodity, with none of the promised pleasures - yet people seem to love it. As they investigate, they come to learn that Cockaigne is now under the control of Sil, who in turn has enslaved the Rani to make a highly-addictive drug to put into the Cockaigne's refreshments to increase profits...
      • The original ending to Episode Three of The Wooden Planet was to have featured the Abbess's head exploding.
      • The Accidental Incursion would have featured the Tractators, with this population led by a being called the Uzlim instead of the Gravis. They had accidentally down the TARDIS and a spacecraft, and both crews were stranded for months on the planet with little to no food. Eventually, some people turned to cannibalism, and the Doctor and his companions were on the menu...!
      • The third episode of The Ride of the Headless Horseman, while still canon, was ultimately unfinished due to hard drive failure. It would have been the first time a regular character had gone to Gallifrey, the Doctor swordfighting with the Headless Horseman, and a litany of hilarious jokes.
"There’s that 'of Rassilon' thing again! The Seal of Rassilon, the Dark Tower of Rassilon, the Age of Rassilon, and who could forget the lewdly-named Rod of Rassilon! How much stuff does this guy need to be in his name? I mean, seriously, what’s next? The Limited Edition Combination Panini Press and Fondue Maker of Rassilon, order yesterday while supplies last!?"
