Trivia / Bullet Witch

  • Bad Export for You: In the overseas Xbox 360 release of the game, Atari nerfed the damage output of Alicia's guns "to incentivize using magic more" and they also want you to pay for the extra Concept Mission DLCs when they were already free in Japan. The extra costumes, on the other hand, are still free. The PC version by XSEED Games thankfully averts this by making the gameplay balance more in-line to the Japanese version and including all its DLCs, though the game must be cleared at least once to access the Concept Missions.
  • Creator-Driven Successor: To the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex game for the PlayStation 2, which was also developed by Cavia and shares the same team behind that game. Both games share similar third-person shooting elements, however, Bullet Witch focuses on run-and-gun gameplay and spell-casting whereas the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex game has emphasis on platforming with the ability to hack various things or enemies.
  • Lying Creator: Atari claimed that the English release of the game would feature improved textures, lighting, and collision detection, while tightening up the game's controls. When the English version was released six months after the Japanese version, players that have played both versions found no such changes, instead what Atari did change was making enemies more resilient to gunfire and making international players pay for the extra missions which were already free in Japan.
  • No Export for You: Although the game has been released overseas, the game's original soundtrack and the Official Art and Guide Book was never released overseas in any form.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • An earlier trailer of the showcased a different spell that functioned similarly to the Rose Spear but also creates a ring of fire where the spell is cast.
    • A PlayStation 3 version was considered, but since the game was already being developed for the Xbox 360, it was scrapped as the development team wanted to focus their efforts on a single console release. It remained exclusive to the Xbox 360 for many years until Marvelous (which was founded by some of Cavia's former members) and XSEED Games released another port for PC in 2018.
    • The original Xbox 360 version was planned at one point to run at 60 FPS instead of 30, but the developers ultimately decided to lock the frame-rate in order for all of the effects to run smoothly. It wouldn't be until 12 years later that the game would receive a high frame-rate version with its Updated Re-release on PC by XSEED Games.
