Trivia / Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: For reasons that should be very obvious, Warner Bros. will probably never release this cartoon on DVD. The only home video releases it got were on the long out-of-print first volume of the Golden Age of Looney Tunes laserdiscs and the Golden Age of Looney Tunes VHS Volume 7 (Bugs Bunny By Each Director, which was also included in a box set that collected all the VHS releases of the series). Even then, that release was controversial enough to get copies of it pulled from shelves and replaced with Racketeer Rabbitnote  in later printings and the VHS release was recalled altogether, so finding a set with the cartoon on it is an expensive crapshoot today. Though the VHS is considerably easier to find and less expensive.note
    • Interestingly, although it is de facto banned on English-language television, a Spanish-dubbed version did occasionally air on the U.S.-based Telemundo network around the turn of the Century.

    • The Cinema Snob: Brad Jones often shows his friend Sarah old cartoons with scenes that have serious Values Dissonance for modern-day viewers. In one episode he showed her this. The shock on her face at times is absolutely hilarious.
    • Saturday Night Live parodied this on a TV Funhouse animated short in 2003 (on the season 28 episode hosted by Queen Latifah), where The X-Presidentsnote  try to make a modern version of the kind of propaganda-based cartoons that were popular in the past. One of which was a pastiche of Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips and Tokio Jokio where Bugs (voiced by Jeff Bergman since Mel Blanc died in 1989) tricks a Japanese soldier into swallowing an A-bomb by saying, "Eh, better brush, bowlegs" and the soldier ending up in a log with a skunk (who finds the Japanese soldier there repugnant).
