• Completely Different Title:
  • Armenian: "Պարգև" (Reward)
  • Finnish: "Uhrilahja" (Sacrifice)
  • French: "L'Apocalypse" (The Apocalypse)
  • German: "Der Preis der Freiheit" (The Price of Freedom)
• Foiler Footage: A fake ending was written where Dawn sacrifices herself in Buffy's place.
• Milestone Celebration: This is the 100th episode. Buffy dies. That's not a good prize.
• Prop Recycling: Buffy wears the same outfit she had on in the Angel episode "I Will Remember You". Coincidentally an episode Foreshadowing her death.
• Trolling Creator: Joss Whedon joked that he was going to kill Anya off when the bricks fall on her but that Emma Caulfield kept moving too much in the final sequence.
• What Could Have Been:
  • There was a rumour that this was going to be a two hour episode titled "Centenary" and feature more characters from previous seasons, including cast members from Angel.
  • The Dark Willow storyline of Season 6 was going to play out here, with Willow joining forces with Glory and being the one to bleed Dawn and open the portal.
  • Joss also wanted Sunnydale to be swallowed up by the Hellmouth. This was later used for the series finale "Chosen".
• You Look Familiar: Tom Kiesche, who plays the vampire in the first scene, also played Broomfield in the Angel episode "The Shroud of Rahmon".
