Trivia / Buffy the Vampire Slayer S3E21 "Graduation Day, Part 1"

Go To

  • Actor-Shared Background: Eliza Dushku is from Boston. When Faith is telling the mayor about when she was a kid she says she lived just outside Boston. This is also evident by her use of the phrase "wicked gross" when the Mayor says he has to eat several spiders. Wicked is a commonly used slang word for "very" or "extremely" , most commonly used by people from Boston/Massachusetts.
  • Completely Different Title:
    • French: La cérémonie - partie 1 (The celebration - part 1)
    • German: Das Blut der Jägerin (The Blood of the Slayer)
  • Creator Backlash: Buffy's stunt double Sophia Crawford hated the fight scene with Faith, mostly because of the leather pants Buffy was wearing. While they looked good on camera, they were quite difficult to kick in.
  • Fandom Nod: Willow's comments about the soda machine come from fans pointing out that it dispenses different cans to what is available on the selection.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: Xander's line to Cordelia about not getting out of this school alive is said to be an Orphaned Reference to his original planned fate of dying in the series finale to save Dawn - before it was changed to simply losing his eye. There are conflicting statements about Xander supposedly dying in "Dirty Girls" as well, so it's up in the air.
  • Throw It In!: David Boreanaz actually tripped walking into Lester's apartment; everyone thought it was hilarious, so they added it to the scene.
  • What Could Have Been: Cordelia complains that she wanted the graduation robes to be teal and not maroon in colour. In the original script, she wanted the red but the school went with the blue.
