• Acclaimed Flop: The movie was well-received by critics, but almost completely ignored by audiences because of its release time explained below.
• Backed by the Pentagon: Reportedly, the DoD reps were aghast when given the script for approval. Even if not, the production was denied any sort of official US military support on the grounds of portraying the US Army in such a terrible light.
• Completely Different Title:
  • The movie is known in Portugal as Os Policias do Mundo ("The World Police", the derogatory nickname for the US later used in Team America: World Police). One reviewer called it "the only known instance where the translated title is superior to the original".
  • In Japan, it's known as Buffalo Soldiers: How to Start A War.
• The Shelf of Movie Languishment: Originally intended to be released in late 2001, the movie was pushed back to 2003 after the September 11 attacks, as it was decided that a satire about the US military would not go over well in the post-attack climate. Keep in mind that the film was originally scheduled to premiere on September 21, just ten days after.
