Trivia / Bubble Guppies

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: It has been adored for years, getting tons of promotion, daily reruns, merchandising, and even after its initial run ended, it STILL has reruns on Nickelodeon, and only the most popular Nick Jr. shows get reruns on Nick. It was eventually Un-Cancelled.
  • Baby Name Trend Starter: Before the premiere of Bubble Guppies, Gil was a very obscure name. In 2012, the name hit the top 3,000 baby names in the United States thanks to the show's popularity.
  • Children Voicing Children: A majority of the Guppies, as well as some of the animals, are voiced by actual children.
  • Crossdressing Voices: In the Latin Spanish dub, Goby is voiced by a woman.
  • Distanced from Current Events: Due to the death of George Floyd at the hands of police, reruns of the episode "The Police Cop-eition!" were pulled from Nickelodeon's lineup as well as all streaming apps featuring Bubble Guppies. In addition, the Nick Jr. channel had scheduled a rerun of the episode for June 12th, 2020 (two days after it was pulled from the aforementioned platforms), but it was replaced by "Come to Your Senses!".
  • Early-Bird Release: The episode "The New Guppy!" was released to the Nick Jr. website and its YouTube channel three days before its original airdate.
  • Edited for Syndication: Airings of Season 1 on Channel 5's Milkshake block in the UK from around 2013 cut the show down to 10 minutes, removing the outside segment, the lunchtime segment, the Molly and Gil sketches and the shop segment.
  • Inspiration for the Work: The inspiration for this series came from the "Viking Voyage" episode of The Backyardigans, where Tasha is a mermaid.
  • International Coproduction: The series is co-produced and animated by various Canadian studios (Nelvana and Jam Filled Entertainment), with writing and voice acting done in America.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Molly, Gil, Deema, Goby and Mr. Grouper both have singing doubles.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • All of the main characters have had at least more than one voice actor throughout the series' run.
    • Special mention goes to Mr. Grouper, voiced by Fred Tatasciore, as his voice actor, Tino Insana, died in 2017.
  • Post-Script Season: The show wrapped production in 2016 after its fourth season, and its creators moved on to make a new show together: Butterbean's Cafe. Three years later, Nickelodeon's new president Brian Robbins decided to start production again on a fifth season, which was announced as one of many Nick reboots.
  • Production Posse: A lot of the crew members would later work on Butterbean's CafĂ©, also created by Belt and Scull.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: The credits list the voice actors, but not which characters they played. The only time when a performer is credited for their role is when a celebrity guest star is featured in an episode (this is listed after the episode title appears on screen)
