• What Could Have Been: Originally, the ending was to have Jake hearing his "guilty" verdict and nodding to go "and now we wake up." This would have led to a montage of him led out in cuffs, put on the bus, showing up at the prison, getting his uniform and entering his cell, each time with him saying "and now we wake up." The final shot would have him lying in his bunk, repeating the line as the screen faded to black. The writers liked it to play on Jake being in denial but were worried the audience would be confused and think it really was some sort of dream sequence so dropped it.
